Wil Brasington
Greenville City Council Representative - District Four
Wil Brasington has served as a member of Greenville City Council since 2017. He previously served on the City of Greenville’s Planning Commission and is a past president of the Alta Vista Neighborhood Association. Additionally, Brasington is a commissioner on the Greenville Water Commission.
He earned a degree in history from Clemson University, where he served as student body president, and a master of business administration degree from the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina. He is a graduate of Leadership Greenville and Leadership South Carolina.
Professionally, Brasington is the executive director of the Clemson Alumni Association, a non-profit organization which provides constituency services, engagement opportunities, and communications to over 165,000 Clemson alumni around the world. In this capacity, he acts as the chief alumni officer of Clemson University and oversees the strategic direction and day-to-day operations of the Association. He also manages the affairs of its 24-member board of directors. Brasington formerly served an assignment as special assistant to Clemson University president Jim Clements, during which time he was responsible for developing initiatives and managing programs for the President's Office.
Councilmember Brasington has been an active participant in the Greenville community, including prior service on the boards of several local organizations. He previously served as the vice-chair of both leadership development and community engagement for the Greenville Chamber of Commerce’s board of directors, and received the Chairman’s Award in 2017 for his contributions. He is a former chairman of the board of the Greenville Revitalization Corporation, and served on the boards of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Carolinas and the Greenville County Redevelopment Authority. Brasington was recognized by Greenville Business Magazine as one of Greenville’s “Best and Brightest Under 35” in 2010.
Wil and his wife Laura have two children, Elizabeth (12) and Wilson (8).
